In the search for a wedding location we have tralled the Alps both sides of the boreder. Finally deciding to plumb for a large rustic Hutt just outside of the town of Boltigen in the Kanton of Bern. Sitting on the side of the valley looking across green pasture and forest in a spot lonely and large enough for a great party. The Hutt is at 1500m asl with peaks over 2000m visible across the valley. If you climb to the nearest peak (less than an hours walk) it is possible to catcha glimps of the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and Finsterahorn, some of the highest mountains of the Alps. During the Autumn and Spring 300 cows live on the mountain side, whilst in the summer the cows are higher up and out of the way. The barn, where the cows to stay in the autumn and spring, is cleaned in the summer and used for parties. We plan to use the barn for our wedding reception in bad weather. Electricity is produced by a generator, there are two basic kitchens, 3 large rooms with beds for about 150 people, showers and toilets. Hot water is heated by fire. At the front of the house there is a small porch, a barbecue and a bread oven. More information can be found here: |
